BMR calculator
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the calories your body burns at complete rest. Every calorie target starts from this number.
--kcal / day
This is what your body burns at complete rest. Your real daily burn is a good deal higher once you add in movement. That total is called TDEE.
Calculate TDEE next →How BMR is calculated
We use the Mifflin-St Jeor equation. Of the common BMR formulas, it's the most accurate for most people:
Men: BMR = (10 × kg) + (6.25 × cm) − (5 × age) + 5 Women: BMR = (10 × kg) + (6.25 × cm) − (5 × age) − 161
What it doesn't tell you
BMR is an estimate based on averages across many people. Your real resting burn depends on things like your muscle mass, your thyroid, and how you've been eating lately. Use it as a first guess. Don't treat it as a goal.
