Weight loss timeline
See how long it may take to reach your target weight, based on how many calories you cut each day. These are estimates. Every body is different.
The math
1 lb of fat ≈ 3,500 kcal. So eating 500 kcal/day less than you burn leads to ~1 lb of fat loss per week. Real results vary. Water, muscle, and your body slowing its burn as you lose weight all play a part.
Why slow is usually better
Losing weight slowly can make it easier to keep muscle and to stick with your plan. Fast paces (2+ lb/week) only make sense for people who start at a higher weight. Even then, use them only for short stretches in a longer plan. Talk with your clinician about the right pace for you.
On a GLP-1
GLP-1 medicines can make you less hungry, which can make it easier to eat less. How fast people lose weight on them varies a lot. Your clinician can help you set a pace that's realistic for you.
